Global and Regional Entropy Production by Radiation Estimated from Satellite Observations
Paper summary
Estimates radiative entropy production from satellite-derived cloud properties and atmospheric profiles. Shortwave absorption, longwave emission, and a steady-state balance are used to infer irreversible contributions within Earth's system.
Relevance to the project
A quantitative example of boundary-aware entropy accounting. It highlights why energy expenditure alone is insufficient without temperatures, fluxes, and an explicit physical interpretation.
Steady-state and radiation-model assumptions limit the inferred quantities.
