Open Life Lab uses optional Google Analytics to understand visits, popular pages, and how people find the site. For visitors detected in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Switzerland or Turkey, Google Analytics starts only after “Allow analytics” is selected. Elsewhere, it starts automatically unless you have opted out. If we cannot determine your country, it stays off unless you choose to allow it. You can use the site regardless of your choice.

Analytics choices

When Google Analytics is active, Google receives page views and technical information about your browser and device and uses analytics cookies to distinguish visits. We remove query strings and fragments from the page address sent to Analytics and send only the referring website’s origin. Advertising storage, advertising personalization, and Google signals are disabled in our tracking configuration.

Your choice is saved in this browser. Use “Analytics preferences” in the footer to opt out or change your choice at any time. An existing opt-out applies in every region. We also honor your browser’s Global Privacy Control signal for Google Analytics. Withdrawing consent stops future analytics and removes this site’s Google Analytics cookies; it does not erase data already collected.

Our analytics is limited to the public website. It does not instrument the separately hosted simulation or collect simulation inputs and results.

Cloudflare Web Analytics

We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure visits, page views and site performance independently of the Google Analytics choice. It does not use cookies or local storage for analytics, or identify returning visitors by fingerprinting. Cloudflare processes the network requests needed to provide these measurements. Browser blocking and network failures can prevent measurement.

Website delivery

The website is hosted on DigitalOcean and delivered through Cloudflare. Cloudflare provides an approximate visitor country from the network connection to select the Google Analytics consent behavior. We do not request your device’s precise location. Those services also process connection information needed to deliver and protect the website, independently of your optional analytics choice.
