AMPA receptor trafficking and its role in heterosynaptic plasticity.

Paper summary

Models AMPA-receptor trafficking in a three-dimensional spiny dendritic segment. Strengthening or weakening one synapse changes receptor availability at nearby unstimulated synapses, producing compensatory heterosynaptic effects and altering later plasticity.

Relevance to the project

A mechanism lead for interactions among incoming contacts rather than fully independent weight updates. Could test whether neuron-local shared state provides useful regulation.

The reported effects arise in a particular computational biophysical model.
