Autocatalytic sets and boundaries.
Paper summary
Extends discussion of autocatalytic sets to include boundaries generated and maintained by internal reaction networks. The proposed formalization connects RAF theory with chemoton, autopoietic, and related models and allows higher-level sets to form.
Relevance to the project
Useful for separating mere spatial grouping from an association that maintains its own boundary and internal processes. Suggests causal boundary-removal controls.
The framework's necessary conditions do not alone establish life or evolvability.
