Pyramidal neuron as two-layer neural network.

Paper summary

Models pyramidal-cell computation as nonlinear integration within separate dendritic branches followed by combination at the cell body. The resulting two-layer abstraction better represents the modeled input-output behavior than treating the cell as one simple threshold unit.

Relevance to the project

Supports a compact neural network inside each modeled neuron's F. It is a useful analogy for richer local computation without requiring explicit biological dendrites.

The abstraction concerns particular response conditions, not all neuronal function.
