Dendritic action potentials and computation in human layer 2/3 cortical neurons.

Paper summary

Records active dendritic properties in human cortical neurons and identifies graded calcium-mediated dendritic action potentials. The study argues that these nonlinear events enable individual neurons to classify inputs beyond a simple linear threshold.

Relevance to the project

Supports allowing F richer nonlinear integration than a weighted sum and scalar activation. Biological complexity does not require copying every channel mechanism.
