Retrieval-Augmented Generation for Knowledge-Intensive NLP Tasks
Paper summary
Retrieval-augmented generation combines a pretrained sequence model with a searchable nonparametric document memory. Jointly used retrieval and generation improve evaluated knowledge-intensive tasks and can provide more specific responses.
Relevance to the project
Useful if an optional language-model component needs project evidence or mutable external memory. Distinguish changing retrieved context from changing the model itself.
Retrieval quality and source fidelity require independent checks.
